worst Mexican food I've ever had!!!!!! Ive gone back with an open mind to try them at least 3 more times and ordered something different each time, but each time was the same. greasy, bland just plain awful!!! the only good thing i have to say is the beer is cold. You're better off going down the street to Coculas on Torrence.

Best mexican foods around at an affordable price. The service was great, although she could have been better with refills, and the decor was shockingly nice aside from the mexican channel being too loud so you were forced to watch some soap opera. Great experience.

meh, the foods okay... large portions for the price, i usually have to take food home. For the location (outskirts of Chicago), its decent Mexican food but not the greatest. You receive salsa and chips while you wait for your order, salsa usually real spicey.

Hands down best Mexican food in calumet city. From the time u walk in and get chips and great salsa till the time you leave everything here is great. Including service. And this is coming from someone who grew up eating in little village and Pilsen so I know my " authentic" Mexican food. Gotta try it if you looking for a great spot. Way better than any other spot on Torrence ave.

My office frequently orders us lunch & we decided to get Cecina's. Everything was fine with the time of having our orders ready. A couple of girls had to go get the food and bring back to the office. When the food arrived, we discovered that the chips n salsa we ordered were not in the bag. I myself placed the order, so I called them to let them know what was missing. Whoever answered the phone says to me, "they are in there. I saw the other girl put them in." I told the lady I had no reason to lie about missing chips & salsa. She continued carrying on basically saying I was lying & I asked her if she knew " the customer is always right" motto. She didn't care that were upset about missing part of our order that was PAID for. I asked to speak to a manager & I was told there wasn't one there at the time & couldn't be given a specific time frame of when I could reach the manager. What a classless bunch...Definitely never going again!

I DO NOT give out 5 Stars! But here I am giving out a 5. I have been coming here for a few years now and getting the Cecina Taco's with rice and beans. Yep, nothing more. I haven't tried anything else because they are perfection. I do not need anything more here at Cecina! Their Salsa is fantastic. It comes out hot in temperature and is spicy! I love spicy stuff and the salsa is about a 7-8 on a 1-10 scale. Chips are fresh. Perfection guys. I love you all!

I never give 5 stars but I did here. It's been my favorite place for a few years. Have never had a bad meal here. Servers are very polite, friendly and very customer oriented. I had Cecina Campesina yesterday. Flank steak, cactus, beans and small salad. Delicious! Their Chiliquilla's, tacos, burritos, chicken and mole, fish. I've had it all and it's top notch. Guacamole is very good. Made a little differently than most places. Tortillas are made right here and it shows. Tasty, and add another dimension to the meal instead of just being a tasteless wrap. Salsa....ah their salsa is the best. Served warm and has bits of burnt jalapeños skin from roasting in it for that smokey flavor. Consistent. Tasty. The only criticism I would have is sometimes the music is a bit loud. BUT GO HERE. You will not be disappointed.

I've been coming to this place since they opened up. Food is great. They have HANDMADE tortillas and delicious(but spicy) salsa to go w your chips. Sometimes service can be slow when there is a large group but the food makes up for the wait. They also do catering at decent prices. This is my family's go to place to order for last minute parties.

Homemade tortillas! Oh my gosh! I had a lunch special that had a taco, sope and an enchilada. I was blown away by the sope... when I come back I will get the sope meal because eating one wasn't enough.

Yummers!!! Came here yesterday after using yelp to find a good mexican restaurant to eat for lunch. We always go to the same one and wanted to try something different. We didn't go wrong. I tried three different tacos. The chicken came with onions and cilantro, the streak came with tomatoes and onions, the cecina came with guacamole and salsa. A great variety for such a simple taco order. The best part was, they were all on homemade tortillas!!! The place was packed on a wednesday afternoon...a great sign.

Every time I'm craving Mexican food while in Calumet City, I go here! I can't give you a wide range of dishes that I've tried because I usually only get the same thing. Get the Tampiquena. Its a strip of chargrilled skirt steak that comes with an enchilada. It's outstanding! What makes it better than other Mexican restaurants in the are is that they make their tortillas from scratch and their salsa too. I mean, come on! Freshly made tortillas?! Awesome! The place and décor is nothing fancy at all. It really does have the feel of a typical restaurant in Mexico. But aside from appeal or décor, go for the food. Also, it is a SEAT YOURSELF place. I found that out after waiting around the first time I went. Unfortunately, there is no craft beer at all. Its mostly all Mexican beers and also macro brew selections. But again, its all about authentic, good, home-style Mexican food. Give the Tampiquena a try and you won't regret it. Salud!

Yum yum yum. The food is great here. They make homemade tortillas which is always a plus as well. The prices are very reasonable and you get more than what you pay for. Whether you are dining in or carry-out, the wait time is fair. This place is always packed whether its a weekday or weekend. Inside is pretty spacious but i think they can expand just a little more. My favorite dish here is their chicken and mole. So many people make this particular dish different, so its hard to find a place to make it to your liking. This is that place for me. They have the right amount of servers on a daily basis, so this is a plus also. They have their own private parking for customers and take credit cards as well.

Best, best mexican food. The food is really cheap. We mostly go for the tacos. Their tortillas are hand made. The guacamole is really good. Its a good place for groups. Great place to just grab a quick bite.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
